A MESSAGE FROM CHRIS + SARAH
August 2020
Greetings, fellow Earthlings!
There have been way too many important life events cancelled lately. But we have some GOOD NEWS: harvest will not be cancelled. The vines are blissfully unaware of what’s happening around them and the grapes are ripening right on schedule (in fact, a little early). They need to be picked, crushed, fermented, and put in the barrel, just like every year. There is something very comforting in that.
And so, we are enjoying these last few days before we go into full-blown HARVEST MODE. This yearly state of being means rushed footsteps, pinging cell phones, grape sampling, constant logistics, swear words, late nights, early mornings, the smell of fermenting grape juice, ice cold Modelo after a long day, and a sense of excitement that, even after years in the business, does not get old. It is thrilling and exhausting and beautiful. It’s why we do this.
This year’s harvest will have an extra layer. The entire wine community is logisticizing how to make things as safe as possible for vineyard and cellar crews. Because when it comes down to it, the health of our family and crew is more important than anything else. We will use these words to measure our actions: Knowledge. Vigilance. Caution. Prevention.
Happening concurrently with harvest is Back to School. Of course, it’s different this year. We’re trying to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps and approach homeschooling with as much energy, spirit, and safety as we possibly can. Our hearts go out to each and every family working so hard to keep their children learning and thriving. Godspeed to you all!
We’d be remiss if we didn’t express our gratitude to you all for supporting our winery. Times have been tough, but we feel more connected to our customers than we ever have. Thank you for drinking our wine.
Cheers,
Sarah and Chris
